Coonhounds at the AKC is operated by the Coonhound Events Department of the American Kennel Club, the worlds largest purebred dog registry with one million registrations annually.
The Coonhound Events Department exists to provide quality performance and conformation events for breeders and fanciers of the six coonhound breeds. Our purpose is to provide exciting events in which coonhounds and their handlers may fulfill the purposes for which these grand breeds were created. No firearms are permitted nor is any game taken in the course of the events. Coonhound event rules provide a scoring system whereby the dogs performance is evaluated in competition with other dogs forming an exciting competition experience for handler and dog alike. Our goal is to provide quality events and a degree of service to our customers that are unequalled in the sport.
The quality service we provide exists in the development of accurate scheduling of events, in providing promotional and logistical support for the events, in accurately recording event results, in providing proper media recognition for winners of the events, and in promptly and professionally responding to all inquiries generated by those events.
By clearly understanding that our customer expects and deserves quality events and that each title earned is of the utmost importance to the owner of the deserving dog, we will accomplish our mission.
Coonhound owners and fanciers are our valued customers and are the only reasons for our existence.
